The 2026 Logie nominees are out and the Gold Logie race is genuinely unpredictable

The 66th TV Week Logie Awards just dropped its nominations and the Gold Logie race is, for once, genuinely hard to call.

Seven names are on the shortlist for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television: Ally Langdon, Julia Morris, Lisa Millar, Poh Ling Yeow, Robert Irwin, Sam Pang and Todd Woodbridge. That spread is wide enough that no single fanbase is walking away with it comfortably, which makes this year's vote more interesting than most.

Robert Irwin is making history as the youngest host the Logies has ever had. His second Gold Logie nomination brings with it one of the most loyal fanbases in Australian entertainment. Sam Pang has the comedy vote locked in. Ally Langdon carries genuine news credibility. Poh Ling Yeow is beloved in the kind of quiet, consistent way that tends to convert into actual votes. Todd Woodbridge has the tennis world. Julia Morris has been building a Logie case for years.

There is no obvious frontrunner. That is unusual, and frankly more fun.

Jacob Elordi also picks up a nomination this year, earning Best Lead Actor for The Narrow Road to the Deep North on Prime Video. An internationally recognisable Australian actor attached to a local production gives the full nominations list real star power.

New for 2026: an award named after broadcasting legend Bruce McAvaney makes its debut at this year's ceremony. For anyone who grew up watching Australian sport on television, that is a meaningful addition.

Voting is open now and runs until 10pm AEST on 16 August, when the ceremony airs live on Seven from The Star Sydney.
