Brisbane's GreazeFest is bringing hot rods and rockabilly chaos back

If your idea of a Brisbane weekend out is getting a bit tired of food trucks and market stalls, GreazeFest might be the reset you did not know you needed.

Australia's longest running rockabilly and hot rod festival returns to Redland Showgrounds from Friday 31 July through to Sunday 2 August. Friday night runs from 7pm to midnight, Saturday splits into day events from 10am to 5pm and night events from 5pm to 10pm, and Sunday wraps things up from 9am to 6pm.

The lineup leans hard into the subculture rather than watering it down for a broader crowd. Expect custom cars spanning American and Australian classics through to 1970s muscle cars, vintage motorbikes, pinstripers, a full kustom kulture market and live music from acts including Screamin' Rebel Angels from the US and Toto from the UK, alongside local names like Pat Capocci and Kid James playing rockabilly, rhythm and blues and boogie woogie across all three days.

Beyond the cars and bands, there is an art show, a pinup party, a dedicated kids zone called Little Greazer's, plus markets, stylists, food trucks and a festival bar keeping the whole thing running late into the night.

This is not a polished corporate festival trying to be everything to everyone. It is leather jackets, chrome and a crowd that genuinely lives this subculture rather than showing up for a photo. The aesthetic has stayed consistent since the festival started rather than chasing whatever else is trending, and that consistency is exactly why it keeps pulling a loyal crowd back year after year.

For Brisbane's crowded winter events calendar, that is the real point of difference worth backing. There is no shortage of light trails, food and wine weekends and generic markets competing for attention right now. GreazeFest offers actual personality and a scene with real history behind it.

Tickets are available by single day or for the full weekend, so there is a low barrier option if you just want to wander the car show without committing to three days of rockabilly.
