Lady Gaga just had her first baby and somehow kept it off social media for days

Lady Gaga just pulled off one of the more impressive disappearing acts in celebrity news, and it had nothing to do with a costume change.

Gaga and fiance Michael Polansky welcomed their first child, a daughter named Rose Bean Polansky, on 9 June at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The birth stayed almost entirely private until outlets confirmed the pregnancy news on Friday 11 September, more than three months later, with the baby's name and birthdate only reported this week. No bump watch, no baby shower leaks, nothing.

For a woman who once wore a meat dress to the VMAs and turned up to the Grammys in an egg, running a three month media blackout on her own baby is the real plot twist here. Photos later surfaced of Gaga carrying Rose in a sling during a low key outing in Northern California with Polansky, which is about as much detail as the couple has allowed anyone to see.

The name has already sparked some digging. Gaga has a large rose tattoo down her spine, inked to mark her performance of "La Vie En Rose" in A Star Is Born, and the middle name Bean has fans pointing to singer and activist Carl Bean, whose story influenced Gaga's hit "Born This Way". Neither has been confirmed by the couple directly.

Gaga and Polansky got engaged in 2024 and remain unmarried, despite an unrelated report earlier this month claiming otherwise. Gaga has said the pair plan to marry "soon", though "soon" is clearly doing a lot of work for two people capable of keeping a baby out of the news for three months straight.
