Google just quietly handed creators a superpower most of them didn't know they needed: proof that Google Search actually cares about their Instagram and TikTok content.

The new feature, called platform properties, lets you connect Instagram, TikTok, X or YouTube straight to Search Console and see how your posts perform in Google Search and Discover. Not your website. Your actual posts.

It rolled out on 7 July and comes with three report types. The Performance Report shows clicks, impressions and which specific posts and search terms are driving traffic. The Insights Report gives a simpler overview of recent trends, top posts and how people are finding your account through Google. Achievements tracks milestones, like hitting new click thresholds over the past 28 days, which is basically Google gamifying your ego for you.

Here's the bit that matters. You do not need a website to use this. Creators who only exist on social platforms, no blog, no landing page, nothing, can finally see whether Google Search is sending them anyone at all.

That changes how captions and hashtags should be written. If a caption is quietly ranking for real search terms, that is now something you can measure rather than guess at. Vague, vibes only captions lose value overnight next to ones that actually answer a question someone typed into Google.

For brands and agencies, this is a genuine planning tool, not just a vanity metric. Knowing which platform and which post format is winning organic search traffic means you can stop spreading content evenly across every channel and start doubling down on whatever Google is actually rewarding.

The rollout is gradual, so not everyone gets access straight away, and only four platforms are supported for now. No Facebook, no LinkedIn, no Pinterest. Given how fast Google moves once a feature proves useful, expect that list to grow.

If you run social for a living, this is worth setting up the moment it lands in your account. Captions are officially SEO now, whether you were ready for that or not.
