The masked band everyone has already decided they know just put an album out, and the mask is still very much staying on.

PRESIDENT released their debut album, Blood Of Your Empire, today via Atlantic Records, and the internet's working theory has not budged. Most people are convinced the man behind the mask is Charlie Simpson, best known as the frontman of Busted and the post hardcore outfit Fightstar. Nobody involved will confirm or deny it, which is obviously the entire appeal.

The band first surfaced in 2025 with a debut EP called King Of Terrors, building buzz through exactly the kind of secrecy that makes music writers and fans equally obsessive. Blood Of Your Empire is a full length, ten tracks, all written and produced by the band themselves, and it reportedly grew out of the frontman's own wrestle with existential crisis, belief, mortality and what humanity actually does with faith when nobody is watching. Heavy territory for a project built on anonymity.

Singles Doom Loop and Dark Heaven have already been doing the rounds with accompanying visuals, and both lean into a sound that is notably heavier and stranger than anything the rumoured mystery man has put his real name to before. If this really is Simpson, it is a serious departure from the pop punk of Busted and even the heavier but still recognisable Fightstar back catalogue.

Whether the mask ever comes off is beside the point. The whole bit works because nobody involved is playing along with the guessing game, and every unconfirmed rumour just adds another layer to a genuinely strange rollout.

Stream it, form your own theory, and enjoy the fact that in an era where everyone overshares everything, one band figured out that saying absolutely nothing is the loudest move available.
