Stranger Things' David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown are back together, and it's a spy thriller this time

Hopper and Eleven are getting a new mission, and this time nobody's disappearing into the Upside Down.

David Harbour confirmed at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys that he and Millie Bobby Brown are reuniting for a new Netflix spy thriller, reworking their Stranger Things father daughter bond into something with actual stakes and significantly fewer monsters.

Harbour, fresh off winning his first Emmy for DTF St. Louis, told E! News backstage that he and Brown simply weren't done working together. "I go anywhere in the world and people know the relationship of Hopper and Eleven," he said. "There's something about that I thought was so special."

The still untitled series comes from A24 and Adolescence writer Jack Thorne, who's also behind Lord of the Flies and Wonder. Netflix gave it a straight to series order back in June, and it's loosely inspired by Paul Warner's novel A Spy in the Blood, though the show itself hasn't landed on an official title yet.

Here's the setup: Harbour plays Matt Wolfe, a disgraced FBI agent turned security expert who gets dragged back into the field when his estranged daughter Rebecca, played by Brown and also an FBI agent, vanishes on a mission. Same on screen chemistry, wildly different genre.

Both actors are executive producing, alongside Brown's husband Jake Bongiovi and her father Robert Brown through her production company PCMA Productions.

Harbour was clearly chuffed about it. "It's very unexpected and we've come up with something that I'm very very proud of," he told E! News. "We've gotten two scripts in already and I'm really, really excited about it." He also made the deliberate choice not to just cash in on nostalgia, saying he wanted to "use the building blocks of the dynamic between me and her" to build something "unique and original".

No release date yet, which means we've got time to speculate wildly about codenames, betrayals and whether Hopper era gruffness translates to spy dad energy (it will).
